Sometimes people talk about how God knows us so intimately that He has numbered the very hairs on our head (Matthew 10:30).  And I agree that it’s important to remember that God knows what we need.

But I also need to know that God knows what’s going on inside of me.  I want to know that He understands how my circumstances affect me.  If I know He has not missed my struggle, then I can believe that He has purpose in it.

You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless nights, each tear entered in your ledger, each ache written in your book.  (Psalm 56:8, The Message)

Not one tear has escaped His notice.  He remembers my sleepless nights.  He’s kept track of it all.

I can trust Him.
