Well, the New England foliage is peaking right now.  Frankly, it’s breathtaking.  I never realized that fall leaves could be so vibrant and beautiful before we moved here.

Yellows.  Oranges.  Fiery reds.  Burgundys.

Words – and even pictures really – don’t do it justice.  You’ve got to see it for yourself.

This season always reminds me of a sermon I heard when I was in college.  The pastor pointed out that, when the leaves change colors each fall, they are actually dying.

But, he said, it is only when the leaves die that these beautiful colors emerge.

And so it is with us.

We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.  For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.  (II Corinthians 4:10-11)
