John 13:31-38

The ways of God’s Kingdom are not what we would expect.

When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified and God is glorified in him.” (John 13:31)

Rejection and betrayal await.  Beatings and mocking.  Nails.  Thorns.  Crucifixion.  Death.

Glory now?

In putting everything under him, God left nothing that is not subject to him. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to him.  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.  (Hebrews 2:8b-9)

And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. (Romans 8:17, NLT)
